Between the notes
Every song begins with silence.
Not the dramatic kind that follows the last chord at a concert, or the uncomfortable pause in the middle of a conversation. Just ordinary silence. A room. A guitar leaning against the wall. A keyboard waiting to be switched on. A notebook with more crossed-out lines than finished ones.
As a band, we’ve discovered that the best ideas don’t respond well be being forced. They need room to breathe. Sometimes we’ll spend hours chasing the perfect sound, only to find it by stripping everything back. Sometimes the lyric we’re searching for arrives while making a cup of tea rather than sitting at the keyboard.
There’s a lesson in that.
Maybe we all need a little more space between the notes.
Space to listen instead of speaking.
Space to reflect instead of reacting.
Space to notice the beauty that often whispers rather than shouts.
If our music does anything, we hope it creates that kind of space. A few minutes where the world feels a little less hurried. A place where memories can surface, questions can linger, and emotions don’t have to be neatly resolved.
